Payment
I’m an out-of-network (OON) psychiatrist meaning I do not bill through insurance. A fee per session is charged to your credit/debit card.
Please reach out directly to inquire about fees.
I work with people who have private insurance (e.g., employer-sponsored or bought individually) and some government programs such as Medicare and Medicaid. People insured by Medicare and Medicaid also pay for my services out-of-pocket as noted above, and may or may not be eligible for OON reimbursement or permitted to work with an OON provider depending on their particular plan. In some cases, for example, people insured by Medicaid are required to work with an in-network Medicaid provider, and as such, are not able to work with me.
I am unable to work with people insured by TRICARE.
Out-of-Network Insurance Reimbursement:
Many insurance plans offer OON reimbursement. For example, I frequently work with people who are reimbursed by Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS), CareFirst, Cigna, and UnitedHealthcare (UHC), though this does not necessarily mean that these companies provide OON reimbursement on all of their plans. Your eligibility for OON benefits and your precise amount of reimbursement depends on your specific plan.
Upon request I provide OON claims (“superbills”) which you may submit to your insurer in order to receive your reimbursement.
To learn more about your OON benefits and how to get them, consider asking your insurer the following:
Do I have out-of-network outpatient mental health benefits (medication management and/or psychotherapy with a psychiatrist)?
What amount or percentage of my session fees will be reimbursed? For medication management with a psychiatrist? For therapy with a psychiatrist?
Do I have a deductible for these services, and if so, how much is it? How much of my deductible have I already met for this year?
Do I have a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and/or Health Savings Account (HSA) and can I use these to pay for these services?
What is my out-of-network co-insurance?
How do I submit my claim for out-of-network reimbursement?
